Demonstration Engineer – Job Description
A demonstration engineer is a pre-sales customer facing network engineer focused on delivering briefings to customers as an extension of *** account teams.
On a day-to-day basis, the demo engineer will coordinate with account teams and subject matter experts to present on target messaging and solutions to our customers. The briefings will focus on vertical industry solutions related to Smart and Connected Communities. Briefings and demonstrations will be delivered to customers of all types, industries, and sizes.
The ideal candidate will have had a variety of experiences through working with different customer types and vertical industries as well as comfort in communicating with all levels within a customer organization from the CxO and business decision makers to the technical decision maker and engineering levels.
The candidate must be good at telling stories. Relating what could be complex technologies in a way that non-technical people can see the value clearly through experiencing the demonstration and briefing in an engaging manner.
This position will be located primarily in the briefing center at the *** pavilion in the Shanghai World Expo.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in a technical discipline – Computer Science, Engineering, or similar preferred
Presentation Skills – it is critical to have confidence and experience in communicating with small to medium size audiences, and at various technical and business levels audiences as needed. The ability to set expectations as well as respond dynamically and manage difficult situations as information and events change during an engagement.
7-10 or more years of technical sales experience in selling networking and/or *** technology based solutions. A seasoned professional is preferred.
Vertical Industry Experience – Experience with “Connected Real Estate” preferred
Technology Experience – A broad set of *** Networking technologies and solutions. *** Unified Communications and Connected Real Estate experience is highly desired. Other technologies and 3rd parties product experience desired as well.
*** Certification – CCNP Level Certification, preference given to candidates holding a CCIE, or having passed the CCIE written exam. Candidates with seniority and a clear grasp of the industry will be evaluated.
Fluency in English and Mandarin at a business level – the candidate will be presenting to customers in both languages, and working with broader teams across *** in English
Collaboration– Using collaborative tools such as WebEx Connect, Wiki, as well as experience working globally highly preferred. This is applicable for temporary extended virtual teams created across organizations and across the theater to build new demonstration capabilities, as well as collaboration within the local team as well to execute to measurable goals.
It is essential for the DE both to be strong as an individual as well as have superior interpersonal, influence, and teamwork skills and capability.
