Report To: Supply Chain Manager

1.Prepare profile summary, quotation comparison report of the suppliers’ capability assessment and recommend preferred suppliers.
2.Conduct raw material analysis for cost effective alternatives advice
3.Work closely with project leader, develop quality system criteria, visit target suppliers’ facilities, verify and validate all supplier technical and quality capability as per pre-qualification plan.
4.Conduct source inspections including physical measurement of product to validate compliance to specifications
5.Educate supplier proper quality/measuring methods and manufacturing/process controls
6.Conduct supplier search, identify potential suppliers, conduct preliminary screening and obtain company profiles, brochures, catalogs and other literature.
7.Design, develop and implement strategic negotiation strategies to meet target prices
8.Review, clarify and confirm project requirements up.

Job Requirements:
1. University graduate in supply chain or related disciplines;
2. Working experience more than 3 years from the hard goods manufacturing industry either in purchasing or sourcing position/ organization;
3. Familiar with electrical finished goods.
4. Familiar with supply chain management concepts

Microsoft inks with Chinese PC maker to pre-install Windows

MICROSOFT Corp, and China’s No. 2 personal computer maker signed an agreement today to pre-install Microsoft’s Windows operating system in PCs in a move to combat widespread Chinese product piracy.

The agreement with Founder Technology Group Corp shows “the commitment of both companies to protect intellectual property rights” and promote the growth of China’s information technology market, the companies said in a joint statement.

Founder will also sell Microsoft keyboards, Webcams and other hardware in more than 500 stores across China, the companies said.

Microsoft suffers from widespread piracy of its software in China and has been pursing tie-ups with Chinese equipment makers to discourage use of unlicensed copies of its products.

In March, Microsoft and China’s biggest personal computer maker, Lenovo Group. agreed to pre-load Microsoft Corp.’s tool bar and Web search software on its computers.

Lenovo, the world’s third-largest PC maker, was to load Microsoft’s Windows Live on laptop and desktop computers, the companies said at the time.

The package included Microsoft’s search service Live Search, which could help the Redmond, Washington-based company compete with search leader Google Inc for traffic.

Wal-Mart to cut jobs in China

WAL-MART Stores Inc will reduce its employees in China by more than 100 as part of a restructuring program in its Global Procurement Division after pressure mounted on the firm due to slower profit growth.

The world’s biggest retailer plans to cut the payroll in its four sourcing offices in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Putian and Dongguan, according to Huang Jianling, a communications official from Wal-Mart China.

The lost jobs in China account for half of its global reduction.

“We have found some department functions overlap,” said Huang via telephone with Shanghai Daily. “The consolidation will help to reduce redundancy and improve efficiency.”

Huang added that some new positions will be created, but did not elaborate.

The layoffs in China, announced last weekend, came after the retailer posted a less-than-anticipated profit for the second quarter. Wal-Mart also lowered its earnings forecast after cutting prices on thousands of stationary items.

“The restructuring will by no means reduce our sourcing from China,” Huang said.

Wal-Mart entered the Chinese market in 1996, and set up its first procurement office in Shenzhen in 2002.

It has bought an average of about US$9 billion in products from China per year over the past two years.

The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer has been aggressively expanding in China, where retail sales grow more than 14 percent year on year despite growing competition.

The market still has huge potential as the central government stepped up efforts to encourage domestic consumption so that the economy is less dependent on exports and investment in fixed assets.

Wal-Mart operates more than 86 stores in China with a total investment exceeding 1.7 billion yuan (US$229 million). France-based Carrefour SA owns 95 stores.

It acquired a 35 percent stake in China’s Trust-Mart, which runs more than 100 hypermarkets, earlier this year.

The company plans to double its outlets in China in the next five years, Bloomberg News said in earlier reports.

China Online Hiring Adoption

In the fast paced hiring environment that we have in China right now, just having a career website will not make you a winner.

First Steps
